Saltus Grammar School were crowned Bermuda School Sports Federation Middle School Boys Under-12 Six-a-Side champions after an accomplished 2-0 victory over Warwick Academy at the National Sports Centre.
In a competitive final on the South Field, Jacob Butterfield proved the difference-maker, delivering a clinical brace to guide Saltus to the title.
Butterfield broke the deadlock with virtually the final kick of the opening half before making sure of the silverware with a ferocious long-range strike that gave the Warwick goalkeeper no chance.
Saltus' path to the showpiece was forged in pure drama during an astonishing 3-3 semi-final thriller against Whitney Institute.
Whitney had looked poised to reach the final after a Karter Riley double and a Lux Paynter strike put them in command. However, Saltus produced a remarkable rescue act, striking twice in the dying seconds through Butterfield, Roman Shaw, and Freddie Webster to force penalties and punch their ticket to the decider.
Warwick Academy also had to mount a fightback of their own in the opposite semi-final. Mount Saint Agnes caught Warwick cold by scoring straight from the opening kickoff courtesy of a stunning long-range drive from Royce Tyrrell.
Warwick refused to panic, responding with three unanswered goals from London Frank, Levi Mello, and Kash Butterfield to seal an impressive 3-1 turnaround.
The earlier rounds served up plenty of entertainment across the tournament:
Mount Saint Agnes hit top gear early on, cruising past Francis Patton 6-0 behind a Cree Simmons hat-trick, a brace from Rhiannon Rushe, and a Temara Smith strike. Warwick Academy were equally ruthless, brushing aside Somersfield Academy 5-0 thanks to a London Frank treble and two from Levi Mills.
In Playoff Drama, Whitney edged Dellwood Middle School in a sudden-death penalty shootout following a 1-1 stalemate, while Bermuda Institute held their nerve from the spot against Sandys Secondary Middle School after Kennedy Seymour and Mattias Simmons each bagged two goals in regulation time.
Saltus cruise in their quarter-final assignment, Saltus comfortably saw off Bermuda Institute 3-1, with Inillo Dillas, Freddie Webster, and the omnipresent Butterfield all finding the back of the net.
