Spanish Point hosts BPBA Thrilling Season Finale

IslandStats.com
The Bermuda Power Boat Association (BPBA) brought the curtain down on their racing calendar with an action-packed End of Season Race day at the Spanish Point Boat Club, featuring dominant sweeps, fierce class battles, and a presentation honoring local emergency volunteers.

Off the water, the BPBA committee, drivers, and co-pilots took time between the heats to present a donation cheque to St John Ambulance in recognition of their vital service throughout the season, with officials highlighting that the association's racing programme simply could not operate without their dedicated trackside support.

Once the green flag dropped, Brandon DeSilva and Blake Burgess stole the show in the A Class, producing a flawless afternoon aboard A111 to claim back-to-back victories across both races.

Chris Marshall and Santiago Roe pushed hard in A3 to secure consecutive runner-up finishes, while Marcus Pimental and Amber Furtado rounded out the podium spots in both heats aboard A5.

The B Class provided the afternoon's closest racing, delivering split honours across two gruelling heats.

Race 1 saw Steven Meireles and Tai Bean guide B441 to an impressive victory, holding off strong pressure from Jody and Tony Carreiro in B77. Jahcai Morris and Jeneko Place finished third in B921, followed home by Damon Morris and Jorde Smith in B48 and the B23 pairing of David Willoughby and Kelsey Durham.

However, the Carreiro duo turned the tables in Race 2. Delivering a clinical performance in B77, they powered clear of the fleet to take the chequered flag ahead of Morris and Place, with Morris and Smith finishing third.

In the C Class, Chad Sutherland capped off a commanding regatta by taking top honours in both races, piloting C87 to victory alongside Lee Wilson in Race 1 before teaming up with Cameron White to complete the clean sweep in Race 2.

The D Class saw Bobby DaCosta produce a masterclass behind the wheel of D13, claiming both race wins on the day—partnering Josh Holder to take the opening heat before linking up with Shawn Burgess to seal the second.
