Bermudian runner Joseph Cechini delivered a spirited performance to lead Mercersburg Academy at the Gettysburg Cross Country Invitational in Pennsylvania.
Competing in a densely packed and competitive varsity boys' field on the Gettysburg course, Cechini set the pace for his school team, crossing the line in 81st position.
The young Bermudian stopped the clock in 17 minutes 47.2 seconds, holding a disciplined pace throughout the 5,000-metre test to secure a solid sub-18-minute clocking.
His composed showing provided a positive benchmark for the Pennsylvania-based prep school as their cross-country season moves into full swing.
