Bermudian Olympian Tyler Smith produced an impressive, surging run performance to finish fifth in a competitive elite men's field at the 2026 Europe Triathlon Cup Ceuta.
Smith stopped the clock in 52 minutes 03 seconds, mounting a determined charge through the field across the sprint-distance course to seal a place inside the top five.
The Bermudian laid the groundwork for his result in the opening 750-metre swim, exiting the water in 8:09 with the 19th quickest split to stay in touch with the lead groups.
He maintained solid positioning over the technical 19.7-kilometre bike leg, recording the 14th fastest split of 27:12 to remain within striking distance of the leaders heading into the final transition.
It was on the concluding run where Smith made his decisive move. Displaying blistering pace over the final five kilometres, he unleashed the fifth-fastest run split of the day in 15:12, overtaking several rivals down the home straight to cap an outstanding performance on the European circuit.
