Bermudian professional Daniel Augustus showed resilience to shave nine strokes off his opening score in the second round of the Tier 1 2026 Pro Clutch Tour Championship at Slaley Hall.
Tackling the testing Hunting Course in Hexham, Northumberland, Augustus endured a punishing opening day before staging a solid fightback on Thursday.
A difficult first round saw the Bermudian card a 12-over-par 84 to leave him lingering in 70th position. His opener proved an erratic affair across the tree-lined layout, featuring two birdies alongside eight bogeys, three double bogeys, and just five pars.
However, Augustus responded with greater control in round two, firing an improved three-over-par 75.
The 55-year-old tour layout offered plenty of trouble, but Augustus attacked the pin with greater accuracy, rolling in four birdies and steadying his card with eight pars. Despite dropping shots via five bogeys and a solitary double bogey, the nine-shot turnaround lifted him into 67th spot on the leaderboard heading into the next phase of play.
