Bermudian defender La Zai Outerbridge and his Hobart College team-mates have climbed eight spots to 13th in the latest United Soccer Coaches national poll.
The Statesmen enter the week with an impressive 8-1-0 overall record, including a 2-1-0 mark in Liberty League play. The move to 13 represents Hobart’s highest national ranking of the campaign, having debuted at No. 14 in the opening regular-season poll before slipping to 21st last week.
Hobart’s sharp ascent has been built on a clinical attacking unit that ranks among the most creative in NCAA Division III soccer.
Junior forward Brady Leitner leads the scoring charts with six goals and 12 points, placing him 29th nationally in total goals. Playmaker Griffin Coutts sits right behind him on 11 points (one goal, nine assists), with the junior currently leading the entire nation in both total assists and assists per game (1.13).
Collectively, the Statesmen rank 18th in Division III with 22 assists and 28th with an average of 2.44 assists per contest.
At the other end of the pitch, junior goalkeeper Jake Hans has provided a reliable last line of defence. Hans holds a 7-1-0 personal record across the majority of minutes played, conceding an average of just 0.88 goals per game with an .816 save percentage and two shutouts to his name.
