Adio DeShield-Tankard was among the goalscorers and Chance Eve provided an assist as Thomas College swept aside Vermont State University Lyndon Hornets with a resounding 6-0 conference victory on home turf.
The match featured a heavy Bermudian contingent, with DeShield-Tankard and Eve taking the pitch alongside compatriots Tre Burgess, Cody Robinson, T’syi Showers, and Justin Sukdeo.
In a remarkable display of squad depth, the Terriers utilised a total of 37 different players throughout the one-sided contest — a figure likely to set a seasonal, and potentially all-time, programme record.
The hosts dictated the tempo from the opening whistle, monopolising possession and pinning the Hornets deep in their own half. The early pressure paid dividends in the 12th minute when David Ivarsson delivered a pinpoint cross for Zayin Clugh, who fired home to break the deadlock.
Lyndon showed defensive resilience to limit clear-cut opportunities for the remainder of the half, aided by their goalkeeper and some wayward Terrier finishing. However, Thomas College eventually found a way through in the 33rd minute.
Eve turned provider, threading a pass to Serafin Garcia, who unleashed a curled finish into the back of the net to give the hosts a 2-0 cushion at the interval.
The Terriers turned their overwhelming territorial dominance into a rout in the second half. On the hour mark, Thomas College were awarded a penalty, and DeShield-Tankard stepped up to confidently dispatch the spot-kick to make it 3-0.
Eleven minutes later, Gabriel Dominicci put the game entirely out of reach with a brilliant solo effort.
With the Hornets tiring in the final ten minutes, Jose Andrade put the finishing touches on the victory, scoring twice in quick succession — including one strike set up by Abel Fjeldavli — to cap a ruthless 6-0 performance.
