Bermuda 113 Cayman Islands 115/8

Cayman Islands held their nerve in a low-scoring thriller to edge Bermuda by two wickets on the opening morning of the North America Cup at the Jimmy Powell Cricket Oval.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Bermuda were bowled out for a modest 113, despite a fighting knock of 46 from Kamau Leverock.

Romeo Dunka spearheaded the Cayman attack, finishing with figures of 3-27 from his three overs to trigger regular inroads throughout the Bermudian innings.

In reply, Cayman Islands navigated a fierce bowling assault led by former Bermuda captain Delray Rawlins, eventually stumbling over the line to finish on 115-8 and secure an opening victory.

Rawlins produced an inspired four-over spell, ripping through the top and middle order to claim 4-15 and push the contest deep into the closing stages.

However, Andre McCarthy's steadying 28 proved pivotal for the hosts, providing just enough resistance to shepherd Cayman Islands past their target with two wickets in hand.
