A competitive fleet of 29 boats took to the water for Race Day 19 of the Wednesday Night Sailing Series, delivering tight racing as crews navigated the classic course from Hamilton Harbour out into the Great Sound and back.
Line honours went to Cyclone, who set the pace across the water to finish with the fastest elapsed time of the evening in 50 minutes and 48 seconds. However, once the handicaps were applied, a corrected time of 52:01 relegated them to 14th place overall.
Instead, it was Menace who mastered the conditions to take the overall race victory. After crossing the line second on the water with an elapsed time of 51:06, their adjusted time of 46:36 proved untouchable across the rest of the fleet.
Peppercorn secured second place with a corrected time of 47:25, holding off a close challenge from third-placed Thrash (47:38).
Shadow finished fourth in 48:09, while Encore stopped the clock at 48:27 to round out the top five on an entertaining evening of fleet racing.
