David Selley and Steven Bridges produced an extraordinary comeback drive to power S-25 Team Bermuda / GL Construction to victory at the Roar Offshore Championship in Fort Myers Beach, Florida.
Having endured heartbreak the previous day with a DNF, the Bermudian duo faced a formidable task on Sunday, lining up in 16th position on a crowded 17-boat Super Stock grid off the shores of the Margaritaville Beach Resort.
However, Selley and Bridges showcased the blistering pace that had seen them dominate the weekend's opening qualifying sessions, methodically carving their way through turbulent wake and heavy traffic.
Lap by lap, the S-25 hull reeled in the leaders before executing a decisive move to seize the lead, holding off relentless pressure in the closing stages to take the chequered flag by a razor-thin margin of 8.984 seconds.
The triumph capped a remarkable turnaround for the team, whose weekend began in statement fashion by setting the benchmark qualifying time against one of the deepest and most competitive Super Stock fields of the season.
Compatriot Luis Martins also featured prominently in the Florida showdown. Piloting the S-12 Nuff Said / Bermuda alongside throttleman Nick Imprescia, Martins battled through the mid-pack across the choppy coastal circuit to record a solid ninth-place finish.
