Defending Dudley Eve Trophy champions St George's Colts suffered an opening setback to their title defense with a 1-0 defeat against Dandy Town Hornets, while North Village Rams delivered an emphatic 5-1 rout over ten-man Somerset Trojans on an eventful night of cup action.

In the evening's opening clash, St George's were frustrated by a disciplined Dandy Town side in a tightly contested affair.
Following a goalless first period, the Hornets produced the decisive breakthrough seven minutes after the restart. David Jones Jr broke clear to slot home in the 52nd minute, securing all three points for Dandy Town and leaving the holders empty-handed.
North Village Rams 5 Somerset Trojans 1
The second fixture produced a far more explosive spectacle as North Village ran riot early on against Somerset Trojans at both ends of the pitch.
The Rams seized complete control within an opening 18-minute blitz. Jaizel Smith-Deshields struck first after just nine minutes before Knory Scott doubled the lead six minutes later. Amir Dill swiftly made it three on 18 minutes as Somerset struggled to cope with Village's incisive attacking movement.
Somerset pulled one back in the 27th minute through Luciano Swan, but Jalen Harvey restored the three-goal cushion on the stroke of half-time to send North Village into the break 4-1 ahead.
Che'Kai Caisey added a fifth for the Rams within two minutes of the restart to put the result beyond doubt, before matters turned ill-tempered in the final quarter.
Harvey was shown a straight red card in the 68th minute after conceding a penalty, reducing North Village to ten men. However, goalkeeper Detre Bell preserved the four-goal cushion by parrying away Justin Donawa’s spot-kick.
Somerset’s frustrating evening unravelled completely in the closing stages when Donawa was dismissed in the 89th minute for abusive language, capping a comprehensive night for North Village.
