Kenny Leseur produced an enterprising display of shot-making to claim the overnight lead as treacherous weather battered opening-round action at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship Local Qualifier.
Heavy rain and soggy fairways greeted the field at Port Royal Golf Course, but Leseur held his nerve to sign for an even-par 71. His eventful card featured five birdies, nine steady pars, three bogeys, and a solitary double bogey to leave him alone at the top of the leaderboard.
Two strokes adrift, Nick Jones and Christian Collins share second place after carding matching two-over-par 73s in contrasting styles:
Nick Jones (73): Relied on clinical consistency, grinding out 14 pars, a lone birdie, and three bogeys.
Christian Collins (73): Delivered a rollercoaster effort, highlighted by an eagle and three birdies alongside five bogeys and a double.
A shot further back, experienced campaigners Daniel Augustus and Camiko Smith remain firmly in striking distance, tied for fourth at three-over-par 74.
Augustus endured an erratic day that included four birdies against four bogeys and a damaging triple bogey, while Smith kept mistakes to a minimum with two birdies, 11 pars, and five dropped shots to stay in the hunt heading into the decisive final round.
