Jake Brislane and Christine Dailey opened Bermuda's road racing season in commanding fashion, capturing the men’s and women’s titles respectively at the 2026 Swan’s Running Club Labour Day 5K.
Fresh from setting a Bermuda national record in the 5,000 metres on the European track circuit last month, Brislane delivered a clinical solo effort, pulling away from the field to break the tape in 15 minutes and 54 seconds.
Kallan Richardson provided the sternest pursuit, taking second place 43 seconds adrift in 16:37, while Sanchez Smith rounded out the podium positions by clocking 17:23 for third.
In the women’s division, Dailey proved a class apart, dominating the female field to cross the line seventh overall in a swift 18:36.
Stepanka Sprincova secured runner-up honours among the women, stopping the clock at 19:23 to place 12th overall, while veteran distance runner Rose-Anna Hoey completed the top three after posting 20:15 for 19th overall.
The accompanying Junior 2.65K race saw Nicolás Gómez Caines and Izzy Stevens crowned champions. Caines produced a dominant front-running display to take the overall tape in 7:29, while Stevens took the junior girls' title after crossing ninth overall in 9:08.
