Bermudian runner Amaris Munya helped Montverde Academy launch their 2026 cross-country season with a solid showing at the Florida Horse Park Invitational in Ocala.
Competing in a massive field featuring 49 high school programmes, the Montverde girls produced an impressive collective effort to secure 13th place overall in the team standings.
Munya paced the Eagles' scoring pack, crossing the line in 50th position after clocking 20 minutes and 17.0 seconds over the 5,000-metre course.
The performance marks an encouraging start to the autumn campaign for the Bermudian middle-distance specialist, who continues to build endurance heading into the core of the Florida high school cross-country schedule.
