Hungary’s Jonatán Vadnai made history by clinching the 2026 ILCA 7 Men's World Championship title, delivering a commanding finish in the Final Series races to seal victory with 47 points.
Vadnai's triumph marks the first time a Hungarian sailor has ever won the prestigious ILCA 7 world title, while also delivering the nation’s maiden medal in the event's history.
The final day of racing tested the fleet across shifting conditions in Dublin Bay.
Competition got under way in light breezes of around seven knots on flat water before winds quickly built to 13 to 14 knots with increasing chop. The breeze later settled into a variable 7 to 14-knot range, demanding sharp tactical awareness and adaptability from the competitors.
Bermuda's contingent wrapped up their regattas with solid final-race outings across their respective divisions:
Silver Fleet: Sebastian Kempe concluded his championship in ninth place in the division and 56th overall with 160 net points, having crossed the line 23rd in the regatta's concluding race.
Bronze Fleet: Campbell Patton rounded off his week in 13th place in the division and 112th overall on 245 net points after securing a 13th-place finish in the final race.
