Leilani Nesbeth and her Como Women teammates are preparing to face Juventus in the second round of the Serie A Women’s Cup, at the “Alessandro La Marmora - Pozzo” Stadium in Biella.
Ahead of the match, which is part of Group C of the competition, head coach Paolo Tramezzani reflected on the team’s progress, looking back at the draw against Milan in their opening game and previewing the upcoming challenge against the Bianconere.
“The result and the performance against Milan were both positive and gave us confidence in the fact that we are a team capable of competing on equal terms with a strong side like Milan. Going behind could have made things more difficult for us, but we reacted well. It was a very good game, intense and open, with both teams playing on equal terms. At this stage of our journey, being able to compete on equal terms with a team like Milan is an important and positive sign.
As I have already said, these three Serie A Women’s Cup matches are an opportunity for us to get to know our opponents better and understand where we currently stand. Another aspect I really like is this team’s great desire to work and constantly improve: this is a group that is never satisfied. The match against Milan satisfied everyone – myself, the staff and the players.
In the game against Milan, some things worked very well, while others did not, and these are precisely the indications we always look at, beyond the aspects we need to bring onto the pitch: commitment, dedication, desire, personality and confidence in our play. Our objective is to perform at our best and play the kind of football we believe in. Of course, a lot also depends on the characteristics of our opponents.
However, we made a promise to ourselves: we will not allow one bad game or a negative result to make us turn back. We know the path we have chosen, and it is very clear to us. We have to run, work hard, make sacrifices and, at times, keep our heads down and push through difficult moments, because those moments will happen. If we are able to accept and face all these challenges, I believe this team is destined to have a season in which we can make things difficult for everyone".
