Kemp Strong Day & Campbell has a Rough one at Championships

IslandStats.com
Bermuda’s Sebastian Kempe enjoyed a stellar afternoon on the water to surge up the leaderboard on day two of the Elimination Series at the 2026 ILCA 7 Men's World Championship.

Kempe climbed to third in the Silver Fleet and 50th overall after delivering back-to-back standout performances, scoring a third-place finish in the day's opening race before crossing the line second in race two. The double podium effort leaves the Bermudian on 121 net points heading into the next phase of competition.

Racing got under way promptly at 12:00 local time in around nine knots of breeze, with conditions settling into a steady seven to 11 knots from the west across near-flat water. An overcast, rainy morning gradually yielded to brighter skies, with partial sunshine breaking through in time for the afternoon's concluding races.

It proved a contrasting day for compatriot Campbell Patton in the Bronze Fleet, who endured a difficult outing.

Patton was forced to retire from the opening race before recording a did not enter (DNE) in the second, seeing him conclude the day 123rd overall on 250 net points.

Competition at the World Championship continues tomorrow, with the qualifying and fleet stages set to intensify as sailors vie for crucial ranking positions.
