Bermudian boccia star Yushae DeSilva-Andrade opened her campaign at the Seoul 2026 World Boccia Championships in commanding fashion, securing a 9-4 victory over the Czech Republic's Simona Blažková.
Competing in the BC1 women’s division at the Olympic Park Gymnastics Arena, the Paralympian produced a clinical display of precision to overcome a familiar international rival and take early control of her preliminary pool.
DeSilva-Andrade established an early advantage on the court, controlling the jack and executing accurate placement shots to keep Blažková under continuous pressure throughout the four-end contest.
The win provides valuable momentum for the Bermudian in a tournament featuring more than 400 athletes representing 45 nations.
Following her opening-day victory, DeSilva-Andrade will look to build on her strong start when she returns to the court for her second group match against China's Yuan Yichu as she targets a place in the knockout rounds.
