Berkswell CC 2nd XI claimed a convincing six-wicket victory over Coventry & North Warwickshire CC 2nd XI in their Warwickshire County Cricket League Division 2 clash at Binley Road.
A disciplined bowling display, spearheaded by a standout spell from Naim Luhar, saw the hosts dismissed for just 121 before Berkswell comfortably chased down the target with four wickets down.
Opting to bat first, Coventry & North Warwickshire struggled for momentum against a relentless Berkswell attack. Luhar proved the chief destroyer, tearing through the batting order to claim figures of 4-22 from an economical 12-over shift that included four maidens.
Firas Hussain provided the lone substantial resistance for the home side, battling to a hard-fought top score of 40. However, support was thin across the scorecard. Bermuda's Najiyah Raynor chipped in with nine, while compatriot Oyinde Bascome fell without scoring as Coventry were eventually bundled out for 121.
Defending a modest total, Coventry struck early through Toby Palmer, who bowled with intent to finish as the pick of the home attack with 2-33 from his nine overs. Raynor also contributed in the field, cleanly holding onto a catch to give Coventry a glimmer of hope.
However, Ali Raza anchored the chase with composure, striking an unbeaten 43 to extinguish any hopes of a home fightback. Berkswell crossed the line with plenty to spare, reaching 126/4 to seal the points in straightforward fashion.
