Newly appointed Bermuda head coach John Barry Nusum has welcomed the challenge facing the Gombey Warriors following the confirmation of the 2026/27 Concacaf Nations League schedule and centralized host venues for the opening autumn windows.
Concacaf officially rubber-stamped the match fixtures and kickoff times for the September and October international windows, placing Bermuda in a competitive group featuring top seeds Guadeloupe, St. Lucia, and Barbados.
Speaking after the schedule was finalized, Nusum expressed satisfaction with the draw while acknowledging the scale of the task ahead, particularly against group frontrunners Guadeloupe.
"Overall, I'm happy with the group that we have been placed in," said Nusum. "It’s going to be a tough group and it’s one that should be competitive all the way to the last match vs Guadeloupe.
"Guadeloupe are the favourites as the number one seed at the moment, and being involved in the last Gold Cup gives them an experience boost, but I like our chances against St. Lucia and Barbados."
While confident in the attacking quality and match-winning capabilities within the Bermudian squad, the former national team striker made clear that tactical structure and defensive solidity will dictate their fortunes across the campaign.
"If we have belief in our scheme and commit to being tough to break down, we can find success in this stage," Nusum added. "We have wonderful players and some real match-winners in this group, but we can let games get away due to not being disciplined defensively."
