Bermudian veterans Arnold and Andre Manders were back in international action for the IMC Emerging XI, but frustration proved the order of the day as their IMC Over-60s World Cup fixture against Canada was ultimately abandoned.
Canada were sent in to bat first and ground their way to a competitive total of 174-8 from their allotted overs, anchored by patient middle-order partnerships.
Arnold Manders proved to be the pick of the Emerging XI attack, delivering a clinical two-over spell. The all-rounder squeezed the Canadian top order, returning impressive figures of 2-7 while claiming two crucial breakthroughs to check the run rate.
The chase, however, quickly unravelled under pressure from a disciplined Canadian bowling unit. The Emerging XI top order crumbled to 55-8, with Andre Manders managing four before being removed, while brother Arnold was dismissed without scoring.
Before Canada could wrap up the tail, adverse weather intervened, forcing the umpires to call a halt to proceedings and officially abandon the contest.
While the result leaves both sides sharing the spoils, the Emerging XI will be eager to sharpen their batting top order ahead of their final group-stage fixtures.
