Bermuda's Ja’Shay Trott delivered a standout performance with the ball, but it was not enough to prevent her Americas NextGen side from succumbing to a 13-run defeat against Canada in the ICC U19 Women's World Cup Americas Qualifier.
Coached by former Bermuda international Terry-Lynn Paynter, the NextGen side produced a disciplined performance in the field after Canada opted to bat first, restricting the opposition to 93-5 from their 20 overs.
Trott was the pick of the NextGen bowling attack, proving remarkably frugal as she finished with figures of 1-12 from her maximum allotment of four overs.
However, the run chase ultimately stalled under tight Canadian pressure. The NextGen side struggled to build momentum, falling short of their target as they finished on 80-8.
Trott’s afternoon ended in disappointment with the bat when she was run out for two while trying to lift the scoring rate, as Canada closed out a hard-fought victory.
