Bermuda's Ja’Shay Trott helped spark a dominant campaign opener as the Americas NextGen team made a victorious start to their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup qualification, securing a comfortable eight-wicket win over Argentina Women.
Argentina struggled to find any momentum after opting to bat first, eventually being skittled out for just 42 runs. Ana Dei Castelli provided the lone source of extended resistance, finishing as the top scorer with an unbeaten 7.
The NextGen bowling attack was relentless throughout, led by a blistering spell from Disha Kaveripakam, who tore through the top order to claim figures of 4 for 7 from her four overs. Trott provided tight support at the other end, wrapping up her spell with an efficient 1 for 2 from 1.5 overs.
The run-chase proved a straightforward affair for Americas NextGen, who knocked off the target in short order, finishing on 46 for two. Palak Chauhan anchored the reply with an unbeaten 21 to see her side safely over the line.
Dei Castelli completed an all-round effort for Argentina by claiming 1 for 15 in her three overs, but it was not enough to prevent a comprehensive NextGen victory.
