Bermuda enjoyed a historic penultimate day at the Central American and Caribbean Games in the Dominican Republic, picking up three medals across sailing and athletics.
Sailors Adriana Penruddocke and Sebastian Kempe brought their outstanding weeks to a fitting climax in the ILCA fleet, while high jumper Sakari Famous delivered a record-breaking performance on the track and field stage.
Penruddocke led the charge on the water, sealing a magnificent gold medal victory in the ILCA 6 fleet following a dominant campaign off Salinas Beach.
Kempe added to the country's medal haul in the men's division, holding his nerve to claim a hard-earned medal and continue his impressive international trajectory.
Over at the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium, Famous provided one of the standout moments of the Games. The high jumper cleared a remarkable height of 1.89 metres to secure the bronze medal—shattering her own previous national record of 1.85 metres in the process.
The day's triple success raises Bermuda’s overall tally at the Games to six medals.
The trio join swimmer Jack Harvey, who previously collected both a silver and a bronze in the pool, and triathlete Tyler Smith, who earned a bronze medal in the men's individual event, capping off a highly decorated campaign for the island nation.
