Bermuda's Ja’Shay Trott and her Americas NextGen team-mates made a victorious start to their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup qualification build-up, securing a comfortable 77-run victory over Cayman Islands Women in their opening practice match.
In a reduced 10-over contest, Americas NextGen set a formidable target after being sent in to bat first, racking up an impressive 119 for 2.
The innings was anchored by a blistering display from Saanvi Sood, who top-scored with an unbeaten 65. Trott was not required to bat as NextGen’s top order set a commanding tempo from the outset.
In reply, Cayman Islands Women struggled to match the required run rate against a disciplined NextGen attack, restricted to just 42 for 3 from their allotted 10 overs.
Trott made an immediate impact with the ball, making the crucial early breakthrough by claiming the opening wicket of the innings. The Bermudian finished with economical figures of 1 for 9 from her two overs, setting the tone for a thoroughly dominant team performance as preparations for the qualifiers continue.
