Bermuda Hockey team finish 8th as Netballers Drop Opener

IslandStats.com
Bermuda’s Women’s Field Hockey team concluded their Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games campaign in eighth place following a 1–0 defeat to Jamaica, while the national netball team suffered an opening-match loss to Barbados.

Competing across two venues on a busy day of action, both Bermudian squads faced stern regional opposition in their respective classification and group fixtures.

Bermuda's hockey campaign came to an end at the Field Hockey Stadium, where a hard-fought classification contest saw them narrowly edged out 1–0 by Jamaica.

Despite a disciplined defensive display, Kovin Moodley’s side were unable to find an equalizer after falling behind, leaving them in eighth place overall in the final standings.

The result marks the end of a demanding tournament for the squad, who secured a memorable 1–0 victory over the same opposition earlier in the group stages.

Over at the Ciudad Juan Bosch Sports Complex, Bermuda’s netball team got their tournament under way against a clinical Barbados side, falling to a 56–25 defeat.

Barbados established control early in the contest, storming to a 15–6 advantage by the end of the opening quarter before expanding their lead with a dominant 17–3 display in the second period to take a commanding 32–9 cushion into the half-time interval.

Bermuda showed greater resistance after the break, scoring seven points to Barbados’ 12 in the third quarter before finishing strongly in a competitive final frame (12–9), but the early deficit proved too steep to overcome.
