Water Orton CC earned a convincing 39-run victory over Najiyah Raynor and his Coventry & North Warwickshire CC 2nds teammates in their Warwickshire County Cricket League Division 2 encounter at Binley Road.
Having won the toss and elected to bat first, Water Orton posted a formidable 273-6 from their allotted 50 overs. The centerpiece of their innings was a brilliant century from Waqar Ali, who top-scored with a commanding 116.
Firas Hussain was the pick of the Coventry & North Warwickshire bowling attack, stemming the run flow to finish with tidy figures of 2-55 from his 10 overs (including two maidens). Bermudian wicketkeeper Najiyah Raynor was sharp behind the stumps throughout the innings, claiming two stumpings.
In reply, Coventry & North Warwickshire mounted a spirited effort but were ultimately bowled out for 234.
Olly Lynott anchored the middle order with a team-high 43, while Raynor added 3 runs before falling during the middle overs.
The damage was largely done by Water Orton bowler Richard Morgan, who produced a decisive spell of 4-38 from 10 overs to break key partnerships and wrap up the victory for the visitors.
