Bermuda Crews Set for Great Lakes Grand Prix Showdown

IslandStats.com
The battle between Bermuda's leading offshore powerboat teams is set to resume this week as the XINSURANCE Great Lakes Grand Prix returns to Washington Park in Michigan City, Indiana.

Running from July 27 to August 2, the event marks the second round of the 2026 Race World Offshore UIM World Championship Series, with the Super Stock class expected to provide another chapter in an exciting all-Bermuda rivalry.

Bermudian teams have dominated the class so far this season, claiming victory in all five races contested.

S25 Team Bermuda arrives in Michigan City as the form team, having won four races to establish itself as the benchmark in the Super Stock division. However, S12 Niff Said has already shown it has the pace to challenge, taking victory in one race and ensuring the title battle remains alive.

With both boats expected to line up again on Lake Michigan, another closely fought contest is anticipated as the championship resumes.

The Great Lakes Grand Prix, now in its 17th year, is one of the highlights of the offshore racing calendar. Thousands of spectators are expected to line Washington Park Beach and the surrounding shoreline, where the event remains free to attend and offers fans an uninterrupted view of the high-speed action.

Following the Michigan City event, the Race World Offshore UIM World Championship Series will continue in Clearwater, with valuable championship points on offer as Bermuda's teams look to extend their impressive start to the 2026 season.
