Bermuda enjoyed success on the sand but had mixed results on the Bowling Lanes, and endured a frustrating finish on the rugby field as their CAC Games campaign produced mixed fortunes across three sports.
Beach Volleyball
Bermuda's women's duo of Natalie Gazzard and Megan Hands produced an assured display to defeat Jamaica's Jillian Johnson and Kristina Miller in straight sets.
Gazzard and Hands controlled the contest from the outset, claiming a convincing 21-10, 21-15 victory to continue their tournament on a positive note.
In the men's competition, Bermuda's Benjamin Barnett and Connor Somerville were unable to overcome a strong Cayman Islands pairing, with Dylan Lynee and Jesario Ebanks recording a 21-18, 21-14 win.
Despite a competitive opening set, the Cayman Islands duo maintained their composure to complete the match in straight sets.
Bowling
Bermuda's bowlers made their first appearance at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games as the men's singles competition got under way at the Sebelen Bowling Center, with David Maycock producing the standout performance for the island.
Competing in Group Two, Maycock delivered a consistent series to finish fifth with a total of 1,360 pins, placing himself among the leading contenders after the opening stage of the competition.
The remaining Bermudian bowlers competed in Group One, where Levinc Samuels led the quartet with a 20th-place finish after knocking down 1,263 pins.
Dennis Joell ended the day in 31st place with 1,178 pins, narrowly ahead of Anthony Hayward, who finished 32nd on 1,160 pins.
Shannon Lee rounded out Bermuda's Group One performances, placing 36th with a total of 1,090 pins.
In Group Two, Lamar Richardson added Bermuda's second score in the section, finishing 24th with 1,011 pins.
Maycock's top-five finish gives Bermuda an encouraging platform as the bowling competition continues, while the rest of the squad will look to build on their opening performances in the upcoming events at the CAC Games.
Rugby
Bermuda's men's rugby sevens side closed out their tournament in sixth place after splitting their final two play-off matches.
They opened the day in dominant fashion, defeating Guatemala 26-12 in the fifth-to-eighth-place play-off.
Bermuda raced into a commanding 26-0 half-time lead, with Kelin Williams crossing for two tries, while Jahniko Francis and Aiden Kendall each added one. Hadleigh Tucker was flawless from the kicking tee, converting three of the four tries.
The victory booked a place in the fifth-place play-off against Barbados, but Bermuda were unable to finish the tournament on a winning note.
Barbados claimed a 24-19 victory after taking a 17-7 advantage into the interval. Tucker scored Bermuda's first-half try and added the conversion before the island side mounted a spirited comeback after the break.
Williams and Tucker each crossed for tries in the second half, while Tucker added one conversion, but Bermuda's late rally fell just short as Barbados held on to secure fifth place, leaving Bermuda to finish sixth overall.
