Challengers St. George’s Cricket Club have named their President and Vice President XI squads for the upcoming Final Cup Match Trial, setting the stage for a fiery selection battle.
The match is set to be played at the Wellington Oval on Saturday July 25th beginning at 10:00am.
With the ultimate aim of dethroning holders Somerset in the annual Summer Classic, the East End club's selectors have divided their experienced core across both teams to test their depth.
The President Select will be captained by Sinclair Smith, heading a lineup packed with last year's Cup Match experience. Smith is joined by five fellow 2025 team members, Jonte Smith, Nzari Paynter, Isaiah O’Brien, Zeko Burgess, and Delray Rawlins.
Meanwhile, the Vice President Select will be spearheaded by captain Macai Simmons, leading a dangerous squad featuring four key veterans from last year's classic, Onias Bascome, Luke Horan, and Kevon Fubler.
The final trial represents the last opportunity for fringe players to state their case and for incumbents to solidify their spots in the final XI.
With six returning players in the President's camp and four in the Vice President's, selector strategy will focus heavily on balancing experience with form ahead of selection night.
