Reigning Eastern County Cup champions Cleveland County Cricket Club have officially named their squad to defend the trophy against fierce rivals Bailey’s Bay this Saturday.
The highly anticipated 2026 season opener will take place at the iconic Lord’s ground in St. David's, where the cup holders face a massive test of their credentials against a star-studded challenger lineup.
The champions will be led out on Saturday morning by captain Mackih McGowan, whose leadership and fiery seam bowling will be crucial to setting the tone in the field.
Supporting McGowan in the leadership group is explosive wicketkeeper-batsman Steven Bremar Jr, who has been named vice-captain. Bremar Jr's tactical input behind the stumps and aggressive style with the bat will form the backbone of Cleveland's defensive game plan.
The selection sets up a monumental battle of wits at Lord's, with Cleveland’s leadership pairing going head-to-head against Bailey's Bay's experienced duo of captain Terryn Fray and vice-captain Rodney Trott.
