Crossfire produced a masterclass in both speed and strategy to dominate Race 14 of the Wednesday Night Sailing Series, claiming a clean sweep of line honors and the handicap victory in Hamilton Harbour.
While handicap racing is notoriously brutal on the fastest boats, Crossfire left nothing to chance. She was the first to physically cross the finish line, stopping the clock at a blistering elapsed time of 1 hour, 2 minutes, and 17 seconds.
Crucially, she was far enough ahead of the chasing pack to protect her advantage. Once the handicap equations were calculated, Crossfire secured first place overall on corrected time in 1:08:42, completing a rare and highly coveted double victory.
It was a completely different story for Nasty Medicine.
Despite pushing hard to cross the finish line as the second boat on the water in 1:08:19, the heavy handicap tax proved incredibly punishing. Once the corrected times were finalized, Nasty Medicine tumbled all the way down to a tied 16th place overall, finishing in 1:14:56.
Behind the runaway winner, the rest of the fleet locked into a furious tactical battle where mere seconds decided the final podium spots:
