East edge ahead after Carlsberg Ocean View Cup Day 2

IslandStats.com
The Eastern Parishes have taken a narrow lead over the Western Parishes after a highly tactical second day of action at the Carlsberg Ocean View Cup.

Following an opening-day stalemate that left the sides deadlocked, the tournament shifted to the challenging alternate shot format. The East rose to the occasion in the final match of the day to edge ahead six and a half to five and a half in the overall standings.

It was the West, however, who made the brighter start to the afternoon. They seized early momentum when the powerhouse duo of Camiko Smith and Dennis Joell produced a clinical display to defeat the East's Damon Smith and Vincent Minors.

The Western Parishes quickly doubled their advantage on the day. Jonathan James and Aaron Adams continued their fine form, combining effectively to overcome the Eastern pairing of Leroy Robinson and Kennedy Nanette.

Refusing to let the match slip away, the East mounted a spirited fightback. Ebonie Cox and Kavon Trott rallied to secure a vital point, defeating Marcelos Thomas and Donovan Livingston to pull the East within one.

The overall match was pulled completely level at five-all when Samuel Robinson and George O'Brien Jr delivered a resilient performance for the East, defeating Ajunte Tuzo and Steven Almeida to square the afternoon's session at two points apiece.

Tension mounted further as the penultimate match of the day between the East's Calvin Richardson and Phil Talbot and the West's Henry Ascento and Oscar Riley ended in a hard-fought draw, keeping the overall match score deadlocked at five and a half points each.

With everything resting on the final group out on the course, the Eastern Parishes delivered the decisive blow. Darriek Douglas and Sinclair Trott kept their composure under immense pressure to defeat Nick Jones and Alan Lugo, ensuring the East carry a precious one-point advantage into the final round.
