Bermudian forward Andrew Armstrong played a starring role as Motown FC 2 crushed the Hudson Valley Hammers 5-0 to secure the USL League Two Metropolitan Division title.
In a high-stakes match where victory was essential to guarantee a post-season berth, Motown played with a ruthless purpose from the opening whistle to punch their ticket to the play-offs.
With the pressure mounting ahead of kick-off, Motown showed no signs of nerves. Jude Essuman score an 11th-minute opener to settle any tension, leaving the visitors with a narrow lead at the halftime interval.
Motown then completely dominated the second period. A quick-fire double from Julien Lacher and a second from Essuman early in the half effectively killed off the contest.
The final ten minutes belonged entirely to Armstrong. The Bermudian turned provider in the 80th minute, delivering a pinpoint cross for Gabriel Ruitenberg to slide home the fourth.
Five minutes later, Armstrong capped off a magnificent individual display, curling a precise direct free-kick past the helpless Hudson Valley goalkeeper to seal both the victory and the Metropolitan Division crown in style.
