Warwick Cricket Academy Blues have been crowned champions of the inaugural FrayStar Youth Cricket Festival after snatching a breathtaking, eight-wicket victory over Somerset Cricket Club on the final delivery of the tournament.

On a sensational weekend at the Saltus Grammar School Field, the under-15 tournament delivered a grandstand finish that will live long in the memory of Bermudian grassroots sport.

Chasing ultimate glory in the festival's showpiece match, Warwick Blues and Somerset locked horns in a fiercely competitive tactical battle. Somerset set a highly competitive benchmark, navigating their allotted overs with great composure to post 109 runs for the loss of three wickets.

In reply, Warwick Blues mounted a clinical chase but were made to fight for every single run as the Somerset bowling attack dragged the contest deep into the afternoon.

In an atmosphere loaded with tension, the final came down to the absolute barest of margins, with just one run required off the final ball. Warwick Blues held their nerve, scrambling the decisive run to finish on 110 for 2 and trigger wild celebrations on the pitch.

The weekend festival provided non-stop entertainment across the group stages, highlighting the formidable depth of young talent currently developing on the island.

The action began with Cleveland County securing a dominant ten-wicket victory over Bailey’s Bay, comfortably chasing down a target of 56. Somerset Cricket Club then signaled their tournament credentials in their opening fixture by tracking down a competitive total of 103 from the Warwick Cricket Academy Reds to win by six wickets.

St. George's Cricket Club enjoyed early success by fending off the eventual champions in a tight encounter, defending a total of 93 to beat the Warwick Blues by 10 runs. Somerset then booked their place as heavy title contenders by dismantling Bailey’s Bay, skittling them for 37 before racing to a ten-wicket win.

Warwick Blues initiated their comeback in style during the fifth match, crushing Cleveland County by nine wickets after restricting them to 95. Meanwhile, Warwick Reds bounced back to edge St. George's by 11 runs in a high-quality defense of their 94 runs.

Despite the early group stage setback against St. George's, Warwick Blues showed immense tactical maturity, peaking at the perfect moment to write their names into the history books as the festival's first champions.
