Rawlins and Brangman Dominate Regional Qualifiers

Delray Rawlins & Derrick Brangman
IslandStats.com
Following Bermuda's dominant display last week at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Americas Sub-Regional Qualifier A at the National Sports Center, the statistics reveal a team operating at the peak of its powers. A clinical look at the tournament data underscores exactly why the tournament hosts proved so difficult to contain on home soil.

The headline story of the batting statistics belongs entirely to former national captain Delray Rawlins, who put on a masterclass in aggressive boundary-hitting throughout the regional showcase. Rawlins registered the highest individual score of the tournament with a blistering 121 runs and added a steady 52 in another innings to anchor the top order.

In total, Rawlins accumulated 190 tournament runs from 96 deliveries, comfortably leading the local charts. He was ably supported by Onias Bascome, who provided heavy scoring support with 69 runs off 44 balls. Young prospect Isaiah O'Brien also showcased his finishing capabilities at the death, contributing a rapid 30 runs from just 11 balls faced.

Bermuda's dominance was mirrored in the bowling department, where the attack combined discipline with lethal wicket-taking threat to dismantle opposition lineups. Derrick Brangman finished as the leading wicket-taker of the qualifiers, collecting seven scalps. He was closely followed by Dominic Sabir and Luke Horan, who both took five wickets during the campaign.

Horan also claimed the ultimate bragging rights for the best single bowling spell of the tournament, returning phenomenal figures of four wickets for 13 runs from his full four-over allocation. Brangman turned in an equally devastating performance with three wickets for nine runs from nearly four overs, while Sabir tore through a middle order to record three wickets for 10 runs from three overs.

Behind the stumps, the fielding unit remained sharp. Sinclair Smith led the tournament glovesmen with three clinical stumpings, while Zeri Tomlinson added another to complete a flawless defensive display for the hosts.
