Bermudian powerboat racing celebrated a historic milestone in Missouri as Luis Martins and Nick Imprescia steered Nuff Said to a dominant, first-ever professional victory at the Shootout Offshore.
The high-octane spectacle at the Lake of the Ozarks culminated in a flawless dream weekend for the mid-Atlantic island, with Nuff Said leading a sensational one-two finish ahead of world championship leaders Team Bermuda.
Having qualified a highly commendable third on the Grand Glaize Arm of the lake, the S-12 canopy catamaran was primed for an aggressive launch. When the green flag dropped, Martins and Imprescia immediately locked into a furious, deck-to-deck first-lap battle with pole-sitters David Selley and Steven Bridges in the S-25 Team Bermuda boat.
Utilizing the tight inside line on the narrow freshwater course, Nuff Said executed a clinical overtake to seize the clean air.
Once out in front, the S-12 crew never looked back. Handling the breezy lake conditions with superb technical discipline, Martins and Imprescia controlled the tempo effortlessly from the front, leading every single one of the eight demanding laps.
As the race progressed, the two Bermudian boats displayed a terrifying gulf in class between themselves and the rest of the international fleet. Pulled along by a relentless pace, the S-12 and S-25 catamarans detached from the chasing pack entirely, turning the final stages of the race into a private island duel.
Nuff Said crossed the line unchallenged to secure an emotional maiden professional win for driver Martins, team owner Stephen Moniz, and world champion throttleman Imprescia.
Team Bermuda cruised across the line just behind them to take a solid second-place finish. The podium continuation ensures Selley and Bridges maintain their grip on the summit of the Super Stock world standings, while Nuff Said’s maximum points haul shatters the championship race wide open ahead of the next tour stops.
