Bermuda’s offshore powerboat racers are dominating the international stage as the IHRA Offshore Championship heads to Missouri this weekend for the highly anticipated Shootout Offshore at the Lake of the Ozarks.
With three gruelling rounds already completed, the global tour moves into its critical summer stretch with a pair of Bermudian entries anchored firmly at the sharp end of the premier Super Stock class.
Sitting comfortably at the summit of the world standings is the S-25 Team Bermuda canopy catamaran, campaigned by the formidable duo of driver David Selley and throttleman Stephen Bridges.
The pair have enjoyed a spectacular start to their 2026 campaign, capturing a wire-to-wire season-opening victory at St. Petersburg and executing a tactical masterclass in brutal conditions last month to win at Thunder on Cocoa Beach.
Their immense consistency and ability to unlock maximum speed from their 32-foot Doug Wright hull have yielded a massive haul of 331 points. The result gives Selley and Bridges a commanding 27-point cushion over their nearest rivals, Wozencraft, establishing the island duo as the definitive team to beat heading into the Missouri waters.
The Bermudian title charge is backed up beautifully by the island's second entry in the high-octane premier division.
Driving the S-12 canopy catamaran titled Nuff Said, pilot Lewis Martin and throttleman Nick Imprescia have endured a punishing opening campaign to secure fourth place overall in the world championship standings.
Accumulating 234 points through three rounds, the Nuff Said crew have shown exceptional resilience on the rough Atlantic and river courses. Despite a series of mechanical challenges, they remain firmly within striking distance of the global podium positions.
With four rounds remaining before the World Championship finale in Miami, this weekend’s shootout on the Grand Glaize Arm of Lake Ozark presents a crucial opportunity for both Bermudian crews to solidify their world championship aspirations.
