Philip Woollins and Marie Dore emerged victorious on a competitive morning of road racing as the 2026 Waterfront Wellness 5K took over the streets of Hamilton.
In the men's elite field, Philip Woollins delivered a clinical performance to secure the overall title. Maintaining a blistering pace from the outset, Woollins broke the tape in exactly 18:00, establishing a comfortable gap over his nearest rivals.
The battle for the remaining podium spots was a much tighter affair. John Kemoi showcased his endurance to claim second place in 18:34, narrowly fending off a spirited challenge from Kwame Curling, who crossed the line just four seconds later in 18:38.
While the men’s race was decided by clear margins, the women’s division provided the drama of the day. In an extraordinary finish that required the timing chips to separate the leaders, Marie Dore was crowned the female champion.
Both Dore and runner-up Colette Durkin stopped the clock at 19:03, providing one of the closest finishes in the event's history. Dore’s victory secured her the fourth spot in the overall standings, with Durkin following in fifth. The podium was rounded out by Stepanka Sprincova, who recorded a strong 19:17 to take third place in the women's category and sixth overall.
The Waterfront Wellness 5K continues to be a staple of the local fitness calendar, blending high-level athletic performance with a broader focus on island-wide health and wellbeing. As hundreds of runners navigated the scenic route, the event once again highlighted the growing strength of Bermuda's road-running community.
