Town Close in on Title & St. George’s Stage Comeback

IslandStats.com
The Bermuda Premier Division title race and relegation battle both reached a fever pitch during a high-stakes Saturday double-header at opposite ends of the island.

Dandy Town Hornets 4 Boulevard Blazers 1

At White Hill Field, the league-leading Dandy Town Hornets tightened their grip on the trophy with a clinical four one victory over the Boulevard Blazers, a result that has all but confirmed relegation for the embattled Blazers.

Dandy Town wasted no time asserting their dominance, racing into a three-goal lead before the interval. David Jones Jr opened the scoring in the eighteenth minute, followed closely by an Enrique Swan strike just two minutes later. Tomiko Goater then added his first of the afternoon in the thirty-sixth minute to leave the Blazers with a mountain to climb.

Goater scored his second of the game fifteen minutes from time, and while Keedai Astwood managed a late consolation for Boulevard, the damage was already done. The Hornets now hold a vital four-point lead over the PHC Zebras, while the Blazers sit six points adrift of safety with a vastly inferior goal difference and only two matches remaining.

St. George’s Colts 3 North Village Rams 2

At the Wellington Oval, the St. George’s Colts produced the comeback of the season to edge out the North Village Rams in a five-goal thriller.

North Village appeared to be in total control after Pierre Smith gave them a one-nil halftime lead and Jai Bean doubled the advantage just before the hour mark. However, the Rams were left stunned as St. George’s ignited a relentless nine-minute blitz.

The revival began in the sixty-fifth minute through Leroy Lewis, and incredibly, Jyrus Dill hauled the hosts level just sixty seconds later. The turnaround was completed in the seventy-fourth minute when Blaiz Hall found the back of the net to seal a remarkable three two victory.

The win propels St. George’s into sixth place in the standings, while the North Village Rams remain stationary in fourth after letting a commanding lead slip through their fingers.
