The battle for supremacy in Bermudian football has reached a fever pitch following a weekend of high drama that has seen the Dandy Town Hornets reclaim the summit of the Premier Division.
With just a single point separating the top two sides after fifteen games played, the Hornets sit on 34 points, narrowly ahead of the PHC Zebras who remain hot on their heels with 33 points. The race is further complicated by the Devonshire Colts, who occupy third place with 31 points but crucially hold a game in hand over the top two, making the upcoming weeks decisive for the destination of the trophy.
The Golden Boot race is equally tight at the top of the flight, reflecting the clinical form of the league’s elite marksmen. PHC’s Enrique Russell and Dandy Town’s David Jones are currently locked at the top of the goalscoring charts with 14 goals apiece, while Senoj Mitchell of the Devonshire Colts remains a significant threat with 12 strikes to his name.
At the other end of the table, the fight for Premier Division survival has become a grueling war of attrition. St. George’s Colts eased their immediate concerns by moving to 16 points after fifteen matches, but the pressure remains immense on the Paget Lions, who sit on 12 points with a vital game in hand. The situation is increasingly dire for Young Men’s Social Club, stuck on 10 points after fifteen outings, while the Boulevard Blazers anchor the division with just 6 points from thirteen games, leaving them with a mountain to climb to avoid the drop.
In the First Division, Robin Hood have asserted their dominance, officially securing promotion with 25 points from eleven matches. They are spearheaded by the league’s most prolific scorer, Keishen Bean, whose remarkable tally of 19 goals has been the catalyst for their successful campaign.
The Somerset Trojans currently occupy the second promotion spot with 22 points and hold two games in hand over the leaders, placing them in a strong position to join Hood in the top flight next season.
The chasing pack in the First Division is led by the Somerset Eagles and Southampton Rangers, but they face a significant deficit to catch the runaway top two. While the leading scorer Bean is in a league of his own, a group of five players, including Jadan Ratteray-Smith and Donte Brangman, sit in a distant second place with four goals each, highlighting the sheer impact Bean has had on Robin Hood's title charge.
