The Bermuda Power Boat Association is gearing up for a high-octane start to the 2026 racing season following the recent election of its new executive committee. Veteran racer Jermal Woolridge has assumed the role of Commodore, taking over from Janae Nesbitt after running unopposed for the position.
Woolridge, who has been a fixture in the local racing scene since 2007, leads a committee focused on modernization and growth. His primary agenda for the upcoming season includes a significant enhancement of safety protocols and specialized training for flag officers. Furthermore, the association plans to relaunch its highly popular Junior Program—which was suspended last season—to cultivate the next generation of Bermudian racers.
Joining Woolridge in the leadership team is Vice Commodore Darius Zuill, who brings a lifelong passion for the sport after first being inspired by his father’s racing career in the 1990s. Zuill, who began racing himself at just 15, will play a critical role in strategic planning and deputizing the Commodore.
To help expand the sport's global reach, the committee remains committed to livestreaming BPBA events, allowing fans both locally and internationally to follow the action in real-time. The full 2026 executive committee is as follows:
Commodore: Jermal Woolridge Vice Commodore: Darius Zuill Rear Commodore: Shane Madeiros Secretary: Tasha McLean Treasurer: Chris Roque Flag Officers: Geoffrey Willoughby, Shaki Easton, Joey Trott, Shawn Butterfield, Jody Carreiro, and Tai Bean Junior Program Directors: Josh Holder and Cleveland Maybury PR Spokeswoman: Elizabeth Waldron
With a blend of experienced veterans and fresh energy, the BPBA is positioning itself for a landmark season on the water.
