Bermudian distance runner Ryan Outerbridge opened his cross country season with an emphatic victory at the Hopkinton Cross Country Festival in New Hampshire.
The event, hosted by the Hopkinton Runners Society at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds, saw Outerbridge dominate the Men's 8K Individual race against a competitive field that included runners from several collegiate programmes.
Outerbridge crossed the finish line in a winning time of 25 minutes and 21.9 seconds.
His time was nearly five seconds faster than the second-place finisher, cementing a confident and strong start to his autumn campaign.
The 8K race, a key early-season test, saw Outerbridge run as a representative of the Hopkinton Runners Society in the collegiate-heavy event, putting him ahead of collegiate runners from institutions like Babson, UAlbany, and Franklin Pierce.
The victory will provide a significant boost to Outerbridge as he prepares for the core of the track season ahead.
