Just four days after claiming a world title, champion throttleman Nick Imprescia has secured a new co-pilot role, joining Bermuda’s Luis Martins in the Super Stock-class Team Bermuda Nuff Said raceboat for next month’s prestigious Key West World Championships.
The move follows Imprescia’s victory in the Factory Stock-class American Power Boat Association (APBA) World Championship in Englewood Beach, Fla., which marked the end of his superb 2025 season with the 151 Express team.
Imprescia will now share the cockpit with driver Luis Martins at the triple-race event. The pair immediately got down to business, testing the 32-foot Doug Wright catamaran yesterday on Sarasota Bay.
Imprescia expressed high satisfaction with the trial run and the professionalism of the Bermudian operation, which is managed by Grant’s Signature Racing.
“Testing went exactly the way it should with a professional team,” Imprescia explained. “Luis is a great driver. It took us almost no time to get to know each other in the boat. Almost immediately, we were making collective decisions as if we were one person.”
Grant’s Signature Racing namesake Grant Bruggemann echoed the sentiment, noting the session’s efficiency: “The test session went really well. They went through their entire propeller arsenal. We even added a couple of new propellers for them to test.”
Imprescia received the unanimous blessing of his former 151 Express teammates before committing to the new ride. Although the current agreement is only for the Key West event, Imprescia's focus is absolute:
“I can’t promise them we are going to win the Worlds… I can promise them I will put my best forward,” he said. “I also can promise them that if we don’t win, we will understand why. And if we do win, we will understand why.”
