The University of Toronto Varsity Blues cross country team showcased strong early-season form at the Don Mills Open, with Bermudian runner Liana De Medeiros helping the women's team secure a third-place finish overall with 65 points.
The team’s success was anchored by two superb performances at the top of the leader board. Fifth-year student Julia Agostinelli, the reigning U SPORTS 1500m champion, dominated the Women's 6km race, taking the individual victory with a time of 21:20. Her powerful run saw her finish 3.9 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor, continuing her standout career.
Not far behind, fourth-year student Sarah White secured a podium finish, stopping the clock at 22:24 to claim third place overall.
Rounding out the top three scoring runners for the Varsity Blues was Bermuda’s Liana De Medeiros. The Bermudian delivered a valuable effort, finishing 14th overall with a time of 23:07.
The team's impressive collective performance, placing three runners well within the top 15, provides an excellent foundation as they build momentum towards the major championship meets later in the season.
