The Somersfield Academy Open 5K saw Philip Woollins and Kristen Robinson run to victory in the main event, while Adam Cenzer and Leyla Crews were crowned champions in the Senior School Division, marking a competitive day of road running.
Open 5K Sees Woollins and Robinson Triumph
Philip Woollins dominated the men's field, crossing the line first overall with a winning time of 19 minutes and 22 seconds. He was followed by Ricardo Sousa in second place (20:55), with Marquis Burgess rounding out the podium in third (21:04).
The women's race was led by Kristen Robinson, who finished as the first female (and fourth overall) with a time of 21:49. She was challenged by Vivienne Lochhead, the second female finisher, who stopped the clock at 23:12 (seventh overall), while Laura Knox-Clingerman finished as the third fastest woman, posting a time of 23:53.
Senior School Division Crowns New Champions
The race also featured a dedicated Senior School 5K Age 14-18 Division, where the next generation of runners impressed:
Adam Cenzer secured the boys' title, finishing his race in 21:52. Jarred Jones was close behind in second (22:09), and Jasper Lau took third place with a time of 22:23. In the girls' division, Leyla Crews took top honours, clocking a winning time of 25:07, well ahead of second-place finisher Ann Pursell (29:11).
The strong turnout and competitive times suggest a high level of talent in the local running scene as the road race calendar continues.
