Bermudians Shine at JiuJitsu World League Pan Americans

Bermuda was proudly represented at the JiuJitsu World League (JJWL) 2025 Pan Americans, held at the Long Beach Arena in California. The sold-out event, the largest JJWL competition of the summer, welcomed 4,227 athletes from around the world.
Competing under the banner of BDA BJJ, led by Professor Roberto Carneiro, local athletes Aaron Lugo Jr and Cyril Whitter III stepped onto the mats and delivered impressive performances on the international stage.
Aaron Lugo Jr competed in the Juvenile (17 & Under) White Belt Male Under 134lbs Division and earned a Silver Medal in a competitive five-man bracket.
Match 1: Victory by Points (25–0) Match 2: Loss by Decision (0–0)
Cyril Whitter III fought in the Masters 2 Blue Belt Male Under 168lbs Division, facing off in an 11-man bracket. In a Double-Elimination format he advanced in the bracket with two dominant victories before his loss in Match 4:
