Bermuda Pacers athletes have made a strong start to the 2025 Russell E. Blunt East Coast Invitational at the Durham Memorial Stadium, securing a flurry of medals on the opening day. The young Bermudian contingent demonstrated impressive form across various track and field disciplines.
The 3000m events proved to be a goldmine for the Pacers. Naomi MacGuinness kicked off the medal haul, winning gold in the 11-12 Girls Division with a time of 13:05.09. Following suit, Riana Robinson claimed the 13-14 Girls 3000m Gold Medal, clocking 11:48.10. On the boys' side, Gianluca Bortoli dominated the 15-16 Boys 3000m Division, breaking the tape for gold in 10:12.06, while Carina Bortoli secured another gold in the 17-18 Women's 3000m Division with a time of 12:48.28.
Bermuda's first silver medal came courtesy of Elena Bortoli in the 13-14 Girls 3000m Division, finishing second with a time of 12:17.29. The field events also saw success, with Amaya Davis claiming silver in the 13-14 Girls Triple Jump Division, recording an impressive top leap of 10.09m (33 feet, 1.25 inches).
Adding to the medal tally, Ronan Davidge earned a bronze medal in the 13-14 Boys 3000m Division, finishing in 11:54.16.
In the sprint preliminaries, several Pacers athletes showcased their speed. In the 8 & Under Girls 200m Division, Raelyn Robinson finished 11th (34.85), and Giselle Reid-Rubane was 12th in the 9-10 Girls 200m Division (32.59). Jadon Lightbourne placed third in the 11-12 Boys 200m Division Preliminaries with 26.64, just ahead of teammate Ajani Trott in fifth with 26.88. Zahkya Scott finished 15th in the 13-14 Girls 200m Division Preliminaries, clocking 26.99.
The strong start bodes well for the Bermuda Pacers as they continue their competition at this prestigious East Coast invitational.
