Juniors Begin NACAC U13 & U15 Championships in Nicaragua

Bermuda's promising young athletes have begun their campaign at the 5th NACAC U13 & U15 Championship at the Olympic Stadium IND in Managua, Nicaragua. Day one saw a mix of track and field events for the island's contingent, with some strong early performances.

Bermuda would win Two Medals on the Day, a Gold and a Silver.

During the Morning Session, competing in the Under 15 Men Heptathlon - 80 meters Chanz Martin showed outstanding speed, winning his heat in 8.46, and claimed the Gold Medal.

In the Evening Session the Silver Medal was claimed during the Under 13 Women’s Pentathlon - Ball Throw as Kierra Sarai Broadley-Samuels delivered a superb throw, securing 2nd place with 36.45m.

Morning Session Highlights:

Pentathlon - 60 meters (U13 Women):
Jordyn Nelody Lewis ran 8.90 (7th in Heat 1, 20th overall).
Kierra Broadley-Samuels ran 9.19 (6th in Heat 3, 25th overall).
Pentathlon - 60 meters (U13 Men):
Gebre Vickers ran 8.99 (7th in Heat 1, 23rd overall).
Orion Medeiros ran 9.17 (6th in Heat 4, 26th overall).
Heptathlon - 80 meters (U15 Women):
Zaria Codrington ran 10.76 (5th in Heat 4, 19th overall).
Zaylee Lawrence ran 11.10 (7th in Heat 3, 26th overall).
Heptathlon - 80 meters (U15 Men):
Chanz Martin showed outstanding speed, winning his heat in 8.46 (1st overall).
Chaz Swan ran 10.36 (6th in Heat 2, 27th overall).

Afternoon Session Highlights:

Pentathlon - High Jump (U13 Women):
Kierra Sarai Broadley-Samuels cleared 1.15m (12th).
Jordyn Nelody Lewis also cleared 1.15m (13th).
Pentathlon - Ball Throw (U13 Men):
Gebre Allen Vickers delivered a strong performance, placing 5th with a throw of 44.42m.
Orion Sinclair Medeiros threw 21.61m (13th).
Heptathlon - Long Jump (U15 Women):
Zaria Shantia Codrington jumped 4.02m (11th).
Zaylee Sadelle Lawrence jumped 2.80m (14th).
Heptathlon - Shot Put 3kg (U15 Men):
Chanz Martin threw 9.84m (10th).
Chaz Swan Edmead threw 8.8m (13th).

Evening Session Highlights:

Pentathlon - Ball Throw (U13 Women):
Kierra Sarai Broadley-Samuels delivered a superb throw, securing 2nd place with 36.45m.
Jordyn Nelody Lewis threw 20.30m (13th).
Heptathlon - Long Jump (U15 Men):
Chanz Martin continued his strong all-around performance, placing 6th with a jump of 5.24m.
Chaz Swan Edmead also had a good showing, placing 8th with 5.07m.

The Bermudian athletes are gaining valuable international experience against top regional talent, with some strong individual results already emerging on Day One of the NACAC Championships.
