The Five Forts/GLA Bermuda Summer Junior Golf League teed off this week with an exciting and competitive First Round.
The League is bringing together 13 junior golfers for a day of development, sportsmanship, and fun at the scenic Five Forts Golf Club.
The league, which runs weekly throughout the summer, is designed to give young golfers a chance to sharpen their skills in a structured, competitive environment, while emphasizing enjoyment and steady improvement.
The league, a collaboration between Five Forts Golf Club and the Golfzon Leadbetter Academy Bermuda, provides a welcoming space for juniors to grow both as athletes and individuals. With a focus on player development and mentorship, the league also aligns with the academy’s broader mission of using golf as a tool to shape future champions both on and off the course.
As the summer continues, players will accumulate experience and points across weekly rounds, with more competitive highlights and personal bests surely ahead.
Participants competed across three divisions based on age and experience:
White Tee Division – 18-hole Stroke Play
● Winner: Freddie Jones ● Runner-up: Charlie Smith
Red Tee Division – 9-hole Stableford
● Winner: Lorcan McGlynn ● Runner-up: Thomas Smith ● Runner-up: Juliana Gakundi
Forward Tee Division – 9-hole Stableford
● Winner: James Thuell ● Runner-up: Heath Kemp
